The day after his third birthday, Aditya's father died in a car accident. His mother remarried soon afterwards and he found himself with two fathers to replace the one who left him too soon. When it becomes clear that her new husband is jealous of all time she spends with her son, Aditya's mother takes him to live with their family in Mumbai. Just as they are settling into their new routine, tragedy strikes again- his mother dies from an illness without warning. Aditya is now a teenager who has never known his mother. His father's family, the Lakshmikanthas, have spent the past ten years trying to care for him. As his family falls apart around him, Aditya has to find the strength to embrace the change on his own life. "Darling" is an 2014 Indian Tamil film written and directed by Nayanthara. The film stars Jai, Nayantara, Vivek, Vignesh Menon and Catherine Tresa in lead roles with Raghuvaran, Narain and Jagan playing supporting roles. The story is about Aditya (Vignesh Menon), who loses both of his parents at a very young age and lives with his grandmother (Nayanthara) after the former's remarriage. It touches on problems of loss of parental love seen in youngsters today. The film was made with advances from the venture capital firm Sequoia Capital. It was shot for 5 months in London and Cape Town, South Africa. The film was produced by Eros International and distributed by Sun Pictures Ceylon Pvt Ltd. "Darling" released on 14 December 2014 to critical acclaim and moderate box office success. The film won four awards at the 61st National Film Awards including Best Feature Film in Tamil, Best Direction for Nayanthara, Best Supporting Actor (Jai) and Best Female Debut (Nayanthara). Aditya Vignesh Menon won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance in the movie. Story: The story revolves around a teenage boy, Aditya (Vignesh Menon), who loses both his parents at young age and lives with his grandmother ever since.
